Mission Statement:

The mission of this program is to unite the efforts of a select group
of pre-health students and medical staff in an international service learning
experience that provides first hand medical care in countries less advanced.

What We Do:

International Medical Outreach (IMO) collaborates with the Caribbean American Medical Education Organization (CAMEO), which provides IMO with physicians and nurses on each mission. Each mission group sets up clinic in a rural town in which healthcare is not easily accessible to the general population. Clinics are set up in churches and schoolhouses, as well as in already existing health clinics. IMO members support physicians and help them see patients as quickly and efficiently as possible. Their responsibilities include intake, in which they screen patients to determine what medical care is necessary; vitals (taking blood pressure and blood sugar); and pharmacy work, in which volunteers hand out prescribed medications. In the past, IMO has seen hundreds of patients on each trip, and hopes to keep the numbers rising.
